Weekend at the English Institute of Sport for BTTC
Barnsley Table Tennis Club had a great weekend at the English Institute of Sport, taking part in the Junior League on Saturday and the Sheffield Closed on Sunday. We are extremely proud of everyone for working so hard.
Barnsley TTC has four teams playing in the Junior League this year, with Barnsley A beating Top Table Warriors for the first time this season. Barnsley B,C and D all played some great games, with Oscar beating Dylan and Daniel in a great for Barnsley D against Barnsley B. It was then a straight forward win for Barnsley B in their second fixture. Barnsley C won their first match 10-0 after their opposition failed to show up. All three players won games, playing some of their best matches all season.
Thomas won his group in the open singles after beating two top players from the Sheffield league. He then went on to beat Mick Brooks 3-2 before sadly losing to former champion Simon Pugh in the R16. Oscar and Daniel took part in a Cadets group, with Oscar coming 3rd and Daniel coming 4th, playing against some great players from the junior league. Dylan had a tough draw in the opening round of the juniors, losing 3-0 to finalist Jake S from the junior league. Joshua also had a tough draw, coming up against Thomas and losing 3-0. Thomas made it to the final after beating Joshua where he played Jake. They both played a great final going back and forth, where Jake eventually beat Thomas 3-2.
We're once again proud of everyone who represented Barnsley TTC so well in their performances and sportsmanship! We look forward to more competitions and matches as we move forward!
