Barnsley Junior League Week 1

BJL launched this weekend and we saw some great games across both divisions. This was a huge moment for Barnsley TTC, with our Junior Focus coaching division thriving and seeing new members every week. From those running the cafe downstairs to those welcoming new people to the venue. 

Division 1 

The Jolly Rogers and Panthers played out a great first match, with Ross winning all three, including a great win over Jake S in their first competitive match against each-other. Troy played as a stand-in for Daniel S and took a great win against Dylan R. Troy's second game took all three sets, for him to eventually claim the win against Johnny D, playing his first ever table tennis match. Thomas C played his first competitive game with inverted rubbers and claimed two good wins against Dylan and Johnny, before losing to Jake 11-13 and 10-12. The Jolly Rogers claimed all 4 points, winning 8-2. 

The Warriors and Canucks went head to head on table 2, with Ben J losing his first match to Jayden K-T. They both played a thrilling match which went to the third set 11-7, 6-11 and 8-11. Jayden K-T won his other two games, including a convincing win other Ethan L 8-11, 8,11. Oscar O lost his three, however he took both Hari H and Joshua Y to three sets. Warriors won 7-3, claiming three points with the Canucks claiming a point. 

In the second round of fixtures, the Warriors and Jolly Rogers played out a close match, with Ben J losing to Thomas c in a closely contested game. Ethan L won all three of his games whilst Oscar lost his three, with him also claiming a set against Thomas C in the meantime. The game finished Warriors 6-4 Jolly Rogers. The Panthers and Canucks went head-to-head, Jake S lost to Jayden K-T in the third set, playing 7-11, 13,11 and 3-11. Johnny had a tough ask against Jayden, however he won his next two against Joshua and Hari. Dylan claimed his first two wins against Joshua and Hari with the Panthers winning 7-3. 

Division 2 

Division 2 saw some competitive matches, with players coming from Dewsbury and Rotherham. The Clippers and Wolves played out a 5-5 draw, claiming two points each. The Wizards had a tough game with the Eagles, losing 10-0. Oscar, Dawson and Hari went undefeated in division 2. The Wolves and Wizards finished with Wolves winning 7-3, special mention to Jorge H for playing some great stuff on the day. Hasnain and Rayhaan proved tricky players as they claimed four games between them. Bulls and Clippers played on table 4, with three games going to three sets. Alex M took Theo to three sets before losing 10-12 in the third. Bulls lost 7-3. The Eagles proved too tough to handle for the Bulls, claiming their second 10-0 win of the day.
